Poetry with Social Enterprise Purpose
Spark! – Sarah Kay performs part 2 at NY+Acumen Fund’s First Fundraiser:
Performance Poet, Sara Kay discusses how social entrepreneurship “makes a big difference” in people’s lives. Sara volunteered with “Lighting a Billion Lives,” a social enterprise that brings solar powered lanterns to rural India. Sara says she is inspired by Acumen Founder, Jacqueline Novogratz who taught her that: “The idea that dignity is more important to the human spirit than financial wealth…imagining a world beyond poverty, to me it’s not poverty in terms of just finance, and shelter and jobs…there is also such a thing as poverty of the Spirit and how important it is for people to know they have the ability to tell their own story.”
